LONDON · the UK preimere of 'SIAMESE TWINS', one of Argentinean playwright Griselda Gambaro’s early masterpieces and Gwen Mackeith’s translation, captures the powerful black humour and harrowing metaphors of Argentina’s Dirty Wars. first performed in 1967, this was an early yet startling brilliant work by the internationally acclaimed playwright.

at the centre of 'SIAMESE TWINS' are Lorenzo and Ignacio, twins who form the well-known archetypes of Cain and Abel. one brother’s envy leads him to subject his more successful and independent twin to cruelty and torture, and finally to conspire in bringing about his murder. written against the backdrop of Argentina’s Dirty Wars, the play offers an unsettling look at oppression in society through dark comedy and grotesque characters.

the play is performed in English for the first time, directed by PLATOON friend Mara Lockowandt and Jorge Perez Falconi. Lockowandt's theatre company The Silver Lining Theatres produces theatre that gives a voice to marginalised artists and individuals by exhibiting their works. since its recent opening, 'SIAMESE TWINS' has already been reviewed in The Stage and has continued receiving excellent reviews!
