Sermed Dahra was the BERLIN 2010 winner for 3D. he answered a few questions for us about his experience with CUT&PASTE:
Q.: why did you decided to compete at C&P?
A.: i wanted to make a great show and inspire the people to get into 3D, because many designers avoid 3D, it's too technical and complicated.
Q.: how did you find the other competitors?
A.: cool people.
Q.: and how did you feel after you won berlin?
A.: i was happy that the audience loved my performance. to impress Berlin designers is very challenging, they are sophisticated.
Q.: and what happened at the NY competition?
A.: N.Y. was impressive and i was very nervous. i was well prepared but unfortunately my machine crashed, that was it!
Q.: and what are you working on now?
A.: i'm working as a gerneralist for commercial projects. i do 3D, 2D some Matte paintings, general compositing work etc.
Q.: how has your confidence as a designer changed since competing and winning Berlin?
A.: i had a lot of job requests. but not much changed.
Q.: can you give one recommendation for anyone who's considering competing?
A.: get the recognition you deserve!
