Thorsten S. Wiedemann #5817, the brains behind A MAZE. Festival answered a few questions for us about his hopes for this weekend's indie gaming showcase here at PLATOON.
Q: tell me about the Indie Connect 2012?
A: the A MAZE. Indie Connect at the end of April 2012 is an Independent Games Festival that is looking for artistic, experimental and visionary games and their producers. the goal of the festival is to cultivate an annual melting pot for the European indie game scene in Berlin. the whole picture includes exhibition, talks, workshops, game jam, party and an A MAZE. Award.Q: what is the advantage in a 'Prelude' to the Indie Connect?
A: the prelude is the start of a bigger thing. i want to create a platform for the Berlin indie game scene, something that will be recognized by the international scene. and we are going to work it out together.Q: is there a Berlin, or German, indie gaming culture?
A: definitely. for years we've had independent game developers in Germany working on great projects and their games are international honored with prizes and awards. Germany-wide groups and smaller platforms popping up to create a indie gaming culture. also the press realizes the potential and creative power of our scene.Q: what are your hopes for the Indie Gaming Showcase this weekend?
A: as the curator of A MAZE. i wish that the whole games and digital culture scene from Berlin, plus friends and friends of friends, will show up on friday and saturday and declare their presence! i am also very happy finding PLATOON a competent cooperation partner for this event, and hopefully for future actions.don't forget to stop by this weekend for talks, music, workshops and of course games. festivities begin at 18:30 at PLATOON (map).
