this time around we mobilized our network on location to get the show on the road. we had Helsinki under the radar since a while and were exploring its cultural scene as a possible city for future operations.
also John Fiorelli #4002 (founder cut&paste) showed great interested and so we started talks with Antti Kirjalainen #6120 from the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 and our network members in Finland in order to find the right team to make this event happen.
we were lucky to find a good partner with FJORD thanks to Ksenia Avetisova #3434, one of the PLATOON network members who helped us a lot when we started to explore Helsinki at the beginning of last year. And she was so excited to join our efforts that we confirmed Helsinki as part of the 2011/12 Cut&Paste tour.
Cut&Paste Helsinki at the cultural center Korjaamo turned out to be a blast. it was smaller and cosier then volksbühne and with about 300 guests it was already packed as we wished. it felt like a flashback... same game different stage... the audience was excited as much as the competitors, being truly responsive, especially thanks to the talented MC Joelle Reefer #6111, which spellbound the audience with his natural charme.
the NOTIC NASTIC performance was just incredible... their music really is like an earworm crowling deeper in your mind. and also the finnish crowd was totally into it. unfortunately for both events a part of the audience didnt have the patience to wait until their liveact... shame... i mean unfortunately for those who left, those who stayed were rewarded with musical blessings and a fat bass massage which im sure they wont forget. we had the pleasure to get to know the band better off stage and we can say these girls and their crew will make a long way.
being in such a creative setting we couldnt miss the chance to make knew friends and members. so we did some old school recruiting on location, it's always a great opportunity to meet members in person in their own environment.
for PLATOON as an international network of creative minds this was a perfect development: a new and radical format for Helsinki, which surely had a cultural impact and it brought people, projects and companies together for cultural development.
a big up for Helsinki!
we´ll be back ;)
