ROME · we live in a word where the yogurt cup of today becomes the toothbrush of tomorrow. things are constantly transforming and becoming something new; this includes music. beats are broken down and transformed into something that simultaneously resembles what it once was but is also completely different. this is what Plugger does. Plugger does not make music, they regenerate it. we spoke with Plugger about their beat regeneration process and how they transform sounds into PLUGs.

it is not a remix and it is not a cover. it is something else. a PLUG is the embodiment of everything a track once meant put into a contemporary setting. a PLUG requires the curator to completely sink and literally plug into the artist's mentality through an archive of records, books, and documentaries.

through this process a depth of meaning is created. the song is no longer just a song but "something higher and pure". the tracks are then dissected and reshaped into a comprehensive interpretation of that new meaning. the finished product embodies the original track but at the same time is something completely different.

the next step is interaction. Plugger believes that "interaction [will] be the standard in five years, and we are just at the beginning." through mobile devices, they give their audience the chance to transcend from the viewer and actually participate with the show. the audience becomes a participating harmonic instrument immersed in Plugger's surreal multimedia world. the audience itself is another element that adds meaning to the entire music process.

Plugger encourages other artists to join the Plugger movement and continue the process of "endless recreation." they want to see their work turn to life and "give birth to other forms of ideas". and they don't profit from it. their music is free and downloadable. for Plugger, watching their art generate new art is "the best and ultimate achievement for an artist."

Plugger is anything but traditional. Plugger fearlessly confronts the issues and holes the slowly adapting music industry has left and they do it because, to them, the music industry has been dead "for a long time." their system is radically different because they "think of music and performance in a different way".

their innovative ideas free music from the shackles of the archaic institutionalized system and make it something accessible, intriguing, and yet still familiar. maybe regeneration is in fact the final frontier for music, or maybe something even more innovative will generate from it.

Plugger recently filmed their immersive multimedia performance at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE Berlin for their first official music video and we are excited for Plugger to release their latest interactive app in a few months and can't wait to use it!
