the Temporary Architecture fever is hitting London as well. for this week-end only, you can enjoy having a roman bath & sauna at Southwark Lido in London, a project by french architectural collective EXYZT. The temporary public bath was commissioned by the Architecture Foundation for the London Festival of Architecture.

the theme of urban regeneration through community interaction is something we support as well... afterall it is one of the reasons why we have been featured at the BLN/NYC dialogues last year.

also the construction is somehow very familiar to us...it almost feels like home. maybe for the fact that EXYZT also used layher-system, although in their own very creative way. or maybe it is for that Badeschiff flair...

however we love this project, it works so well in London´s urban setting under the tube´s bridge!(pics)
it turns out to be quite surreal to have a sauna and lay in the sun in this post industrial background.

EXYZT are quite familiar with Berlin´s architectural scene....in 2005 they joined forces with raumlabor in the temporary hotel project „der Berg“ at the former Palast der Republik, which now, unfortunately, is being dismantled.

so, if any of you EXYZT guys are ever in Berlin again, dont forget to come around for a chat here at PLATOON.
